细胞凋亡是一种发生在多细胞生物中的程序性细胞死亡。相对于细胞坏死,细胞凋亡是受基因调控的主动过程,细胞凋亡时会发生特征性的形态学变化,产生称为凋亡小体的细胞碎片被吞噬细胞吞噬。细胞凋亡受到促凋亡因子(Fas 受体和 caspases)和抑凋亡因子(Bcl-2蛋白和 IAP)的调控,异常凋亡过程牵涉到多种疾病中,细胞凋亡的抑制可导致癌症、自身免疫性疾病、炎性疾病和病毒感染。另一方面,过度的细胞凋亡可能导致神经退行性疾病、血液疾病和组织损伤。目前在细胞凋亡与癌症发生和自身免疫性疾病之间的关系有着很多研究,人们希望激发癌细胞的细胞凋亡,以达到治疗癌症的目的。“细胞凋亡在神经退化性疾病中所扮演的角色(如阿兹海默氏症、亨丁顿舞蹈症、帕金森病、肌肉萎缩性侧索硬化症),是目前热门的研究领域。” TargetMol 细胞凋亡化合物库精选 2394 种与凋亡相关的生物活性小分子化合物,适用于癌症和神经退行性疾病相关研究。
